(though letting her learn so she could shave my face would be pretty awesome)
In all probability there most likely is. Somewhere. Chances of it being right across the street from you? Well... I guess you didn't have amazing luck.

If somebody requires those licenses, there most probably has to be a approving body for these, and somewhere along the line, education. You could go investigate top down. While you're at it, find out if they're allowed to shave with non-disposable at your location. I've heard that that's a factor too.

Before schools, people (not just barbers) were trained on apprenticeships (usually, over many years) by masters. That is most likely something she would have to ask herself, since it would be heavy committment. As mentioned, you could ask some tips or a brief course for her around the local barbershops.

Congrats for you finding such gal. Take her out to somewhere nice to celebrate.

I would say send her to Barber School or learn to shave yourself then you could teach her.

There's a member over at B&B who is a young, professional barber, he goes by Barberofdeville and lives in Florida. He is very knowledgeable and I'm sure would be able to give you some advice about where to get lessons.

    B&B = Badger & Blade

    Good luck!
