    Default Best soap/cream for me?

I am 19 with a fairly thing beard and still relatively (compared to all the 35+ year old guys out there) soft whiskers. I am pretty sure I have sensitive skin, because I usually always have razor burns under my chin and above my lip after shaving using a mach 3. This is one of the many reasons I am switching to straight razor shaving. I am wondering what shave soap or cream would be best for someone like me. Also, what's the most inexpensive way to test new products (college student with no job).

    Thanks in advance,
    -Brent

The Shave Den sells sample sizes of nearly everything under the sun. I am a college student myself, and I have found Taylor Old Bond Street to be great value for money. The huge tub costs around $15 shipped and will last about forever. They even make a sensitive skin formula, but in all likelihood your real problem was shaving with a M3.

    Good luck!

+1 on The Shave Den comment. They do sell samples which is an excellent way to try a variety of shave creams. I'm not sure if they have soap samples. If you do have sensitive skin, Mitchell's Wool Fat would be a good choice. It's got Lanolin in it, and is very mild. Shave creams in general offer more protection and cushion when you shave, Shave soaps are usually thinner and will give you more feedback from your blade. Taylor of Old Bond St. is excellent. I like the Avacado, it has very fresh scent.
Castle Forbes Lavender is for sensitive skin and is really good stuff, one of the best.
Truefitt and Hill is good too, and I believe all are available as samples from the shave den....

They DO sell soap samples. Here is a list of the Brand Name ones they have samples of, and they also sell samples of their OWN soap (many, MANY scents to choose from!) I have a package from them on the way of samples of their own shaving cream (I don't particularly care for soap )

I'm not a huge soap fan either but I won a sample thing last month. I picked up the peppercorn scent for winter and it is absolutely amazing. Definitely just what I wanted.

Best of luck trying everything under the sun!
