    Hi,
    If you are sure the razor is sharp enough, after your description I'd say look at the pressure you are putting on the blade when you shave. As mentioned in an above post, just enough pressure to glide the blade on your skin-- no pressing. If the blade is still catching, look at how you are stretching your skin.

    Stropping will mellow out the edge, so check that as well.

    The test I use to check if the razor is sharp enough (it does not work for everyone --meaning, a good enough blade may still fail, but if it passes you *know* the razor is ok)-- try to shave arm hair while holding the blade about 1/4" above the skin. If it catches hair (you'd head a "pinging" sound too) then the blade should be fine. If it fails, the blade may still be fine, though... anyway, this test works great for me-- it tells me when I'm done honing.

    Hi all, thanks for the replies, and words of encouragement. I definitely don't intend to give up. Will certainly watch angle, and, even more so, pressure, and will heed the advice re: stretching. Will post the results after my next shave.
