    Default Importing..

    Hey all

I would like to thank every one for there past posts. I have learned much from this site.

I live in Australia (Perth) and i am having trouble getting my hand on gear. I was wondering if any one knows about importing Straight edge razors? and why it seems to be such a problem? Or if any one knows of a half local shop?

Any help would be appreciated.. Coyotee

Coyotee - I live in NZ, and have bought a good few razors from the classifieds here (definitely the way to go with buying razors, IMHO). I've never had a problem having them brought in, the seller simply puts "razor" or "shaving supplies" on the customs label, and they wave it right on through. Oz may be different, but I wouldn't think THAT radically different. What sort of problems are you having with bringing them in?

    Ah Many thanks.

Can i ask another silly question? How much of a difference is there between blade costs? I have see really nice looking razors for $300 and some for $50 is the difference in the handle as much as the steal?

If you're looking on the mensbiz website, the $50 razors are shavettes, which use disposable blades. You don't need to sharpen them, but you do need to replace them.

The rest of the price differences are usually in the steel, the scales, and the name.

the difference in terms of how it shaves can be huge, or not at all, or the $50 razor could be much better. there are many many factors that go into a price and some of them have absolutely nothing to do with the razor.
