    Red face New Gal

Hello, I am a newbie to all this. I just purchased my first straight razor and have sent it away to be restored. I am anxiously awaiting it.
Lets see. Some things about myself. I am a registered nurse, I own one beautiful yellow lab, one handsome boxer mix and one absolutely gorgeous Gray mare Quarter horse. I am married and have children. You can say, I am a little busy, but I would not have it any other way.

I am looking forward to starting and appreciate any helpful hint. I will soon be going into the Ladies Corner for help also. Thank you for your time.

welcome! i dont shave my legs so i cant help you there. my girl friend does tho. knees are harder parts to shave from what i am hearing. she loves the soaps and creams. she has a bengal that i bought her. its a very nice 100 plus year old wooden handled razor. i also got her an antique paddle strop w/ new leather. if i were to recommend anything it would be plastic or something similar for the scales (handles) and some air in a can... like for electronics. she prefers that so she can shave in the bath and blow the air off to prevent rusting or water stains.

Hello and welcome! I'm new at this too, but shaving the face instead of the legs. Don't be put off by the learning curve, the only real cut I have had (yet) was to my thumb while stropping. Beat that.

If it is being restored by any of the guys here, I'm sure your razor will be gorgeous when you get it back.

Welcome to the forums Razorgal. I'm sure you will find lots of helpful posts and folks here to get you going. The one thing I will say , when you start it is easy to get over anxious and carried away. Take your time and take it slow. It takes time and practice to develop the touch and angles with a straight that will give you that soft kin we all look for. Have fun and enjoy, never be hesitant to ask questions.

Welcome to SRP! While you're waiting for your razor you might want to take the time to look at some of the documentation in the Beginners Guide. A lot of it applies to the face but some of it will help you get oriented.
