Default When did you decide to switch 100%

I'd like to hear some stories of that moment when you decided to toss out the cartridge jobs and go 100% SR...

For me, it was about two weeks in. I was getting comfortable using mine everyday. When I was taking a shower the next day, I noticed the M3 sitting there neglected and opened the shower door and tossed it across the bathroom into the trash cylinder saying, 'I won't be needing this (explitive deleted) anymore!'

    What happened for me is:

I put my last cartridge in my Fusion and after debating on whether or not to try a DE razor for a week while my blade got even duller, I decided to hop on in. I spend less getting set up with a DE than I would have buying new blades for my Fusion. I tossed that POS the day my DE arrived and I haven't looked back since. I only recently made the straight switch, I now have 5 shave ready razors and a bare blade on the way.

Oh, addiction, how I love you.

On the plus side, I sold/traded all but a few of my DEs to finance this venture.

As I recall I was using my DE less and less for touchups and cleanups for almost 1 month but really I still use my DE for shaves when I'm in a hurry or when I can't give full attention to the shave.

I use a straight razor primarily, even if I'm in a hurry. I only use my DE when I don't feel like giving my full attention to the shave.

When I decided to switch to using the straight razor was when I found out that my barber was full of crap

I told him that I'd love to use a straight razor, and he always told me that they weren't sharp enough to get a good shave out of . So after researching and finding out that they actually are, the decision was made. I never look back either.

I made the decision out of pure stubborness when, on my second shave, tore the hell out of my face going XTG with a less-than-sharp excuse for a razor. Gave myself some wicked cuts on my right cheek and told myself I'd have to make this work. Thanks to Utopian, I finally knew what it was like to have a razor sharp enough to get a proper shave with. Still use my Fusion on the rare occasion I don't feel up to the Master's Pass on the stiff upper lip. Other than that, I look at my safety razor with pure contempt.

As soon as I realized I was getting a better, cheaper and yes more enjoyable shave. Safeties always killed my face so I only shaved about every 10 days, but now I look forward to shaving every day, it is a small luxury that I enjoy, and for me alone (untill my boy starts shaving).

Two or maybe it was three weeks after I started I put away my Merkur slant and haven't picked it up since. I didn't begin by making a 'decision'. I got to like shaving with a straight so much that I feel I would be wasting a shave if I was to do it with a DE.

As others have said the shave with the straight is superior in every way anyhow.BTW, I've never used a cartridge so I don't know what that is about. From what I've read I haven't missed anything.

One week before I started using straight razor. It took about a week since the idea occurred to me and before i had read a bit on these forums and gotten a razor i can shave with. I've used cartridge razor 7 times since then, it happened two months ago when I was away and decided to try it for fun. Totally sucked, some day I will try it again with a Fusion.

I stopped using my cartridge razors two days after receiving my straight razor, and don't missed them one bit.

You might try a cartridge once just for fun. It's really amazing how poor the shaves are, and how many guys use it because it's easy
