The one added benifit of stropping between passes is that it allows the lather to penetrate the bread better again...

    I lather first then do a pre-shave stropping 25 linen 50 leather..

    Hot towel over lather

    Re-lather

    First pass

    rinse

    re-lather

    Strop 15 laps leather

    2nd pass

    rinse

Do you have too ??? Nope... does it help the edge??? Maybe.... does it help the lather ??? Yeppers....

Seems like I read in Dovo's literature that you should not strop after shaving. I think that they said that the edge lasts longer if it rests prior to being stropped again. As in most things, I don't follow their advice. I occasionally restrop between passes. Usually when I've missed a day or two of shaving.

I've read that you shouldn't strop after a shave, but I also have started to ignore that advice. (1) I could not detect any problem using 100x magnification, (2) the sharpness definitely improved every time I stropped, (which I highly suspect is more from cleaning the bevel and edge than any affect on the metal), and (3) it does not make sense to me that it is OK to strop mid-shave, but not at the end of the shave. (Does the blade have some sort of intelligence, knowing that "this" strop is mid-shave, and the next strop is post-shave?)
