Thread: He shoots.... He scores!!!!

While browsing an antique store I picked up a straight razor for $15. It has a wood handle with "The Real IXL Raxor" carved on the side, and "Griffion XX" and the number 60 on one side of the blade and a Griffion animal and "Germany" on the other. There is also fancy scroll etching on the blade that I believe says "Carbon Magnetic" but there is discoloration due to surface corrosion that makes it hard to see. Anybody know about this razor?

Anyway, I took it home, cleaned it up a bit (it had some light corrosion) and gave it a swipe on the Arkansas stone, stropped it a few times and hit the face with it. Holy molly! What a nice shave, one pass to a smooth baby face! My stubble literaly jumped off my face with this razor.

I will clean it up some more and maybe restore it to shiny new, but in the mean time I think this will become my number on tool. Not a bad deal for $15 IMHO.

Ok then, here is my primary weapon, a JA Henckels razor that is a family hierloom. Any help in identifying it to a specific model would be helpful.





Here is my latest find. It's a little rough around the edges, but it gives an awesome shave. I will clean it up nice and pretty. Any help in giving a history, age, or value of this blade would be great.
