Default 6 month report -thanks everyone

Wow. Its been 6 months. Honestly I didn't even realise it. The only way I remembered is the point of this post-

My first razor cost me $10, and Hi_bud_gl charity sharpened it (ebay blade). Its ugly, but having used 10 or so razors later, I still find myself coming back to it. It's a Friedr Bauermann & Sohne, 4/8s quarter hollow. That thing is literally the best shaver in my rotation (damn I really need to send my Goldedge out I got paid today :P). That blade is the reason I'm looking for more Solingen 4/8s wedgier blades. (see my sig lol)

Just tossing it out there that my $10 blade shaves better (IMO) than all my blades that cost a LOT more. And potentially, I could sell off everything and break even and have a great shave every morning. But I'm not going to because I have RAD. But I've fallen into the trap that ChrisL (I think it was him...?) fell into where you're starting to use the same blade over and over.

Anyways, it was just great to come full circle and be fully satisfied with a blade. It really is a beautiful thing, the whole razor experience. And I would like to thank the forum for everything.

I have gotten so much out of this forum, from knowledge, to blades, to a PIF, to charity honing, a great shave, a fun hobby, but most of all a community that while we bash heads sometimes, in the end is very supportive and a great place to be and learn.

    THANKS ALL!!!

congrats on 6 months and still lovin it! I lurked for a long time and agree that there are many wonderful acts of generosity on this forum and many experienced straight shavers who are willing to share their experiences.

funny how those 4/8 wedges maneuver on the face huh. I have a 4/8 Case wedge the Cutz generously gave to me along with another razor purchase in the classified that shaves fantastic - light as a feather too.

I guess the bags out of the cat now

Honestly I've always liked the shave off the 4/8s wedge. They just don't look as good though lol. And are harder to find. Don't get me wrong I have 4 shavers in the 5/8s 6/8s standard size, full hollow and they give brutally close shaves, but I dunno. They're so- efficient and clinical lol. The wedges have personality.

Congrats on your 6 months. This is a life long journey where the learnings will never end. When you reach my age this will only be memories. Hope they are fond ones!
