    Default Introduction

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself as a newcomer on the forum and a complete beginner to the art of straight razor shaving. I've been toying around with the idea of getting started for several months now and I've finally decided to take the plunge.

    Looking forward to learning!

    Welcome to SRP, Josh,

You might want to take a look at Straight Razor Place Wiki:Books/Beginners Guide - Straight Razor Place Wiki, especially if you intend to buy a used razor.

Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress,
    Robin

Welcome to SRP. Straight shaving is more than just scraping the hair off your face it's an art all to itself. Spend time in the WIKI read the fourm posts and don't be afraid to ask questions. There is a learning curve and there are areas of your face and neck that will be more of a challenge than the rest. Take your time and be patient, once getting the hang of the basics you'll not want to ever go back. Welcome and good luck.

Welcome to SRP. There is a load of valuable information that I would recommend reading prior to starting the process of collecting the necessary items to begin shaving. Please don't loose sight of the fact that this should be an enjoyable experience and one that you anticipate each day. Go slow and don't rush the learning curve. Be sure to ask questions. There are a lot of people out here eager to help you enjoy this fabulous journey.

Welcome to SRP Josh. I like the screen name. I first met the delta blues 47 years ago and I haven't stopped listening to it yet.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I don't believe I've ever had so many people greet me on a forum before. Jimmy, I'm glad you like the screen name--I knew I was on to something the first time I ever heard Skip James play a song.

I'm planning on spending a lot of time in the Wiki and also practicing. I've purchased a used razor and strop off the Classifieds here and I intend to slowly start familiarizing myself with them once they arrive. I will definitely be spending a lot of time on the forum here as I go. Looking forward to learning from everyone!

    Josh
