    Unhappy strop problem

I've only been into straight razors about a month and am having a problem with my 3" latigo strop -- the edges tend to turn upward a bit, so that when I strop my razor only the heel and toe of the blade are touching the leather. If I apply enough pressure on the razor to force the entire length of the blade onto the leather, I end up dulling the razor due to the excess pressure. I reshape the leather with my hands to flatten it out, but the strop doesn't retain its flatness. Any hints on how to flatten the strop would be greatly appreciated. Interestingly, I'm finding out that learning to shave with a straight razor is the easy part -- honing and stropping are the real challenges!

Thanks in advance for any help!
