Question Will a lonely razor get dull?

I was telling a friend of mine about my first straight shave last night and how I was not looking forward to going out of town because I wont be able to use it. (Trying to get by with just a carry on)

He agreed that it is a shame especially because when I come back my razor will have dulled a touch. This did not make sense but I cant help but ask. If the razor is not in use there is no reason for it to dull......right?

I've had them dull sitting around for a year or two, but it should not for just a short period of time.

Careful...mine bite me, if they are left alone for too long and they start feeling neglected.
Best ya bring 'em back something to ease their hurt feelings...like maybe a razor-friend.
Seriously, i do keep mineral oil on mine to preserve the edge and ive heard some of the guys on here use vaseline and other types of oils. I think it keeps moisture and oxegen away from the steel...prevents oxidation/rusting...not sure if ya knew that already.

I now have enough razors that most of mine are not used more than once a week, and I've not had any trouble at all. A good stropping and they're ready to go.

I have noticed the same thing as well, and I wipe mine with choji oil when I store them too.

    Sucks really.
