    Default Chromium questions

I've been reading all the references to chromium at the wiki but I still have some questions.

1 - What is the proportions of the mix Chromium x oil.
2 - Should be only mineral oil or can be a organic to ?
3 - Can I use it just after pasting the strop or balsa or I should wait it to dry ?
4 - How many times should I paste the strop or balsa, I mean, once pasted how many strokes it alowds ?
    5 - Is it a good choice after a 8k norton stone ?

    Thanks

Dario, here is a photo tutorial that will show you how and give you an idea on the proportions.

I wait for it to dry overnight.

I've never had to reapply so far.

I've not used balsa yet but I hear it is great. I wouldn't paste my only strop. Only an additional one.

It is a good choice after an 8k. How many strokes depends. I would say do 5 each way and try it and then if necessary do a few more and try it again.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Mineral oil does work best and letting it dry overnight keeps the blade from picking up a lot of the surface paste. Even after one day if you get any green on your razor let it dry another day.

And after stropping with the chrome oxide, be certain to rinse the blade and wipe it off well, before going on to strop with your regular fabric/leather strop. You don't want to transfer small particles of the polish grit into your regular strops.

just wondering, if the only components of the paste are CrOx and mineral oil, how can it actually "dry"? Oil cant evaporate can it?

I doubt much would evaporate, but it will soak down into the strop (or balsa) quite a bit.

What VeeDub said it's absorbed into the leather to the point that you don't come away with a bunch of green gunk on your razor.

    Hi there,

good to see people from Brazil here. Where did you get the chromium oxide?
Take care, since they are not all the same.

    Best,
    Felipe
