    Default Why I use a straight razor

    1) My skin has been very clear NO GILLETTE EVER and my Dovo is not a gillette;
    2) Its the only thing that can get under my nose and even out my side burns;
    3) I am rebelling against the dumbing down of our society where everything seems to be a one size fits all
    4) Best shave that I have every gotten ever.

    +1 with your #3.. I started using the straight because, no matter how hard I tried, I could not get to some areas with my Merkur twin. I haven't looked back since I first picked up my first straight...

    For me it is simple, people that shave with a straight razor are cool and they can kick your azz.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    1. When Gillette added blades number 4 and 5 AND battery to their gadget I thought it was really not a thing for me anymore. Bit too much bling bling for my taste.

    2. no more razor burn or ingrowns since started using straight. Shaving has been real pleasure.

    3. steep learning curve - I bet after ten years there's still lot to be learned

    4. Straight razor vs. Gillette Mach XXX double trouble turbo - which one would you put on display at your home? Simply put straight razors are real beauties I'm proud to show my collection to my quests

    5. Shaving, honing, stropping - they're moments I look forward. They all require level of concentration and focusing during which one has to put everything else aside

    6. There's certain appeal of working with sharp blade next to your major arteries - just like rock climbing, free diving, extreme off skiing etc.

    7. Like JimmyHAD said - Straight shavers are cool and kick ass

    - About 1988 I got a straight razor shave from a barber north of Seattle. It was just amazing.

    A few years ago I bought a straight razor just to try if it was even better than the DE.

    Then I found this great site. Got RAD and will never turn back to any other method of shaving.

    Thanks Lynn, for starting all of this.
    Have a nice day folks!

    1. tired of buying cartridge razors and disposable junk
    2. tire of the same old canned shaving cream
    3. just wanted to see if i could do it(which caused the addiction)
    4. maybe i can pass along the straight to someone else
    5. closer shaves
    6. ever learning process(shaving, buying more razors, honing, buying more razors, stropping, buying more razors, making homemade shave soap, buying more razors. and did i mention withdrawal if i do not buy more razors
    7. actually enjoy the thought of having to shave

    also would like to thank lynn for finding his videos on you tube and causing all this to happen to a once normal calm guy (where can i find another razor for sale)
