    Wow. Over a hundred and two ON THE WAY? How many do you already have before those arrive?

    I didn't think I had too many until I started creating a mental list (not at hime so I may have missed one or two). I can think of about 22 in various stages, though about 6 are used regularly. I'm finding I like the heavier grinds instead of the full hollows and have begun to move my collection in that direction.

    I've got seven in my shaving rotation and ten in my honing / restore box.

    For a while I limited my own personal shave ready razors to seven, but I've just recently allowed myself to bump that up to 14. I have 11 that are shave ready, and a bunch of others in various stages of not ready. Whenever I find myself over my limit, I take out all the blades that are and could be "keepers" and reassess my rotation.

    Average of 16, geeze thats interesting. Anyone have a statistics background? I do, the crowd on this forum may not be normal but its still interesting to see what the average for the straight razor place crowd is. Assuming that SRP members are average for straight razor shavers the average of 16 gives me some idea of how far RAD goes. Its also interesting to take a look at the outliers - there were only two of us with one or two straights and on the other side there is someone with 105. I am also going to have to compute some additional descriptive statistics on this data and see what I come up with. Would be interesting to see what the mode is (most frequently occuring number of straights), also would be interesting to see how big the standard deviations (StDev) are. A StDev of one would imply that straight razor users tend to buy straights one at a time where as StDev of nine would imply that members tend to buy straights in groups of nine. I would also like to see what the bell curve looks like, that would be real interesting. Will write in when I find time to compute some of the descriptive statistics.

    I just did the little bit of stats that I can remember - the average (median) is 9 (from 47 data points). I used median so that those of you with very little self-restraint out there *looks sternly at all those with over 100 razors* didn't make us all look like total addicts.

    The mean was 19.2, and standard deviation 25.3, although I wouldn't put much weight on those - the higher numbers have skewed the mean upwards, and the SD has been influenced by the huge data range (1-102 - didn't count Tim's as he didn't give a number, but that would have skewed it even more). The most common number of razors owned is 3 (7 people).

    The average absolute deviation from the median was 14.7, which if I recall correctly means that members here apparently buy razors 14.7 at a time.

    [/end huge nerd stats rant]

    Rather interesting descrptive statistics, mode is 2, StDev is 23 correlation between number of razors and location is -.06. Where as region 1 is east sea board, 2 is between east sea board and mississippi river, 3 is those seates that line the west side of the river, 4 is between those states and the west coast and 5 are those outside the US.

    most of the time we have 16 razors, a StDev of 23 means that we don't buy razors one by one we tend to buy them 23 at a time. Not much of a correlation between region and number of razors, not significant.

    Looks like we interpreted the data differently jb - I think by counting razors to be restored along with the rotations and those in the mail where people gave numbers, I messed up as not everyone gave exact numbers of projects or rotations. What does yours say the median is?

    Median = 8, avg = 16.6, mode = 2, stDev 22.86351, correlation = -.0592, Max = 102.
