Yeah, assuming I only spend around 500-something, which has already come and gone! But that's not the reason why I'm SR shaving, even though it is a nice perk.

Nickel per day does not include consumables like soap (although, I guess you need it for cartridges, too, if we're going for cost comparison.) You also have to include the ROI factor... you can resell a straight or DE for some cost recovery if not profit, but try to sell a Mach 300

True, I really never considered the cost recovery factor. If that is true then I need to factor in the cost recovery factor into my caluclations which will msot likely eliminate most all if not all of the cost of a straight or safety.

How can you work razor addiction into this equation? I started out to try to save money on buying mach 3 or whatever Gillette junk I was using before, by going DE. Since then I've owned about 20+ razors, though no more than 8-10 at a time, which has lead to this, which I can only guess is going to get more expensive

But that seems to be the only sure cure for RAD, and you will someday break even. Until then, enjoy ALL your razors!

Isn't it interesting citizen soldier NY that razor acquisition disorder does not occur among cartridge shavers.

You forgot one factor in your calculation. When the nephews come over and see me shaving and say "WOW! Uncle Craig is baddass." This has intrinsic value that transcends money.
