I can tell you from my experience that stropping was probably one of the most confusing and frustating parts of str8 razor shaving. Although I watched as many video's as I could and read and re-read directions, in the beginning I just didn't get it. About 60 shaves ago I finally figured it out. I had just honed a couple of razors and after CrOxing them I went to the strop. This time I decided to start out slow and see what happened. One thing I did have was my hearing aids were in this time. As I slowly started stropping I listened closely and the sound was somewhat like having your hand oiled up and stropping with the palm. Very low toned and dull. Suddenly in the stroke coming back I could hear a sharp sound much like scratching paper or tearing it. That was the sound that I think was causing the rolling of the edge. I continued stropping trying to make only the dull sound and have done so ever since with great results. I did listen to a demonstration using sound in the wiki but I really couldn't tell the difference in it's two demonstrations though. You might try it and see if you can tell the difference. After I am done stropping I always still do a HHT to see if I screwed things up. I know this test doesn't mean much but but it always seems to give me the confidence as to weather or not I am good to go. Hope this helps.
