    Default Stainless or High carbon?

I want to get into straight razor shaving, and I'm looking at a few different ones, all of which are dovo's. My first pick was the Dovo Ebony "Silver Steel" But it's out of stock! Which is very sad, every aspect of this razor appeals to me, especially since I hate plastic. There is another one very similar, the Dovo Ebony "Stainless Steel" but I have heard that it could be harder for some one new to straight razors to hone and to strop, and being new, I don't want to get so frustrated with it that I give up on it too soon simply because the razor I chose is too hard to strop. Can anyone offer me personal experience, or advice? I know that classic shaving has the silver steel, but they don't have(or atleast I couldn't find) starter sets that come with a brush, stand, strop, soap, bowl, and a razor. But I am not sure how good they are, while I have heard some really good things about vintage blades, as well as actually getting to talk to the owner. So an alternative would be a review of how good, or bad classic shaving is. I would hate to spend so much money with out getting exactly what I want ...

I find the Dovo stainless blades are pretty easy to hone, though that'll be a while off for you.
That's a No 41 stainless. They are renowned for being fantastic blades. I've got one & it's surprisingly smooth!
If you do decide to go with that, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for all your help! I think I am going with the Stainless steel from vintage blades, I will be sure to post how it goes on here!

I have recently bought a Stainless dovo from vintage...the 6/8ths Dovo Renaissance Stainless. This is my first razor but it is really smooth and keeps a sharp edge. Havent honed it yet but it is full hollow ground so I would think honing shouldnt be too much more difficult than a carbon. Lynn says usually stainless just likes a few more strokes on the high grit (polishing) stones.
