    Default Got my second razor!

    Got my second blade today so I figured I'd post up a pic of it along with my dovo since i'm so excited. I already shaved with it and i love it. it's a 5/8 wade&butcher. I got it from treydampier, and i'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking to get a razor. anyway, onto the pics!

    I haven't even started shaving with a straight razor yet, although I plan to in a couple of weeks. I am going to display my newbness here, but why would you want more than one razor if the one you have provides a decent shave? I am leaning toward the Dovo Best Quality for my first razor (from SRD), is that a good idea?

    I suppose it's like buying guitars, you can't own just one...

    srd is exactly where i got my dovo best quality from, you will not be disappointed by it i promise you.

    the only reason i want more than one is because if i ever damage or have to send one out for any reason then i dont have to go without shaving.

    but then again, i own three guitars too

    there's different reasons;

    I got by the first 3 months with just one that shaved well, the problem is that at some point it has to be sharpened, and I'm going to hazard that most guys that only have one likely aren't experts at honing them to the level they really should be at. so when your razor is gone you're out, now you might not mind wiating a week or a little more to get it back and can switch. I hate any time I have to use my mach 3 (this morning I overslept, rather than rush a shave I grabbed a disposable while in the shower).

    Another reason, accidents happen. you damage one razor, and only have one, you're SOL.

    last legit reason (addiction is not legit, although completely normal) as I see it is that every razor shaves different. My 5/8 shaved different than a 7/8. both shave well, but variety is nice.

    I just bought a straight razor from the classifieds! It's a Wester Bros. De Fi 4/8; only $35.

    I am closing on a house in a week and a half, so I'll have to hold off on buying a strop and brush and stuff until that's over. I guess I'll just look at the razor and study how to shave with it until then.

    if you'd like, i have some soap and a brush i can give you, just pay the shipping... pm me if you're intested. most guys on this site are very generous and i'm having a rough day so doing something nice for someone will make me feel good. they're not the most high end stuff but it's a start.

    and congrats on the house!!!
