    Default Hi everyone!

    Hi,

I have been a lurker for some time here and I am gradually making the transition from the DE world to Str8s so I thought it about time to say HI! I picked up a shave ready razor some time ago but after my first attempt decided it wasn't for me.

Well.... I tried it again on Friday, after a very careful review of the guides here and have shaved with the straight for the last 4 days. Only one minor nick but otherwise very nice! I am also using both hands which is a huge adjustment but seems to work better for me than trying to do my entire face with just my dominate hand.

I have a ways to go before I am close to the BBS shaves I am used to with my DEs but I am much more confident now.

I look forward to learning from all of you!

    Thanks,

    Tim.

Hi Tim, Welcome to SRP ! Smooth shaving
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Welcome to SRP, Tim. Just take your time. Straight razor shaving is an acquired art, and it will months rather than weeks before you get really good results. In the end, however, I wager you shall find that it was worth the wait.

On a tangent, if you have not read it already, you may find our Beginner's guide to straight razor shaving - Straight Razor Place Wiki useful.

    Good luck,
    Robin

Hi Tim. Welcome to SRP. I opted to learn using both hands and it is going well. I'm also really into the post shave stuff. Alum block, aftershave lotion, aftershave Balm. Great stuff and I think it makes me look at least 50 years younger. My wife wont let me leave the house unless she is with me! "No no, she says, Your'e one of those Straight Razor babe magnets now!" "I'm not letting you out of my sight!"

    Hi Ben,

I am using a Gold Eagle extra I picked up some time ago. Don't really know much about it other than it gives a nice shave. Black plastic or celluloid scales, with an eagle with its wings extended on the tang.
