Thread: Shaving soap rotation

My name is Nathan and im 17 and I remember my grandpa using straight edge and mugs and such. I use cartridge razors but use mug and brush for lather. But what does shaving soap rotation mean?

I only use one type of shaving cream, but I imagine shaving soap rotation is using a different type of shaving soap each day, for a week for example. Kind of like a weekly clothing rotation, except with shaving soap.

I'm satisfied with my shaving cream, but there are a LOT of different brands and scents out there. You could easily have 7 very different soaps that you use over a week.

Does your grandpa still use a straight razor or is the razor still around?

Means- Having more than one soap that you use.
like monday- bayrum
tues-lime
weds - sandelwood
etc,etc,etc
useing them in rotation

It is just that a rotation of soap. I have 5 soaps in rotation right now and 2 different types of cream. It just depends on how I am feeling that day on what I use. Each has a different scent. I have around 7 other soaps all samples that I haven't used yet. I do like the way they all lather, but some I have found mix nicer with the creams for uberlather. So now that I have rambled on it is just a rotation of soaps in different scents that one might use on different days

You should see if your grandpas straight is still around. If so read the wiki and give it ago!!

Thanks for the quick reply's. I dont know how to quote but my grandpa died when I was 6 and I don't think his shaving stuff is still around but his shaving mug and my great great grandpas shaving mug is still around which I'll use when I get it. The only thing is my face isn't smooth enough for a safty razor but I'll look around next time I'm there for them.

I think if you're already used to using a cartridge razor you'd be just fine using something like a safety razor. I actually found my skin to improve when I initially switched to using a safety razor from a regular mach 3.

hey thats awesome if you can use your grandpas stuff...next time i am home i might stop by my grandma and see if she has any of pas old shaving stuff...i know my dad has my great grandpas strop...but he uses it for knives and broad heads...he uses electric ... he hates shaving and would hate straights and safetys haha...

and i agree with the above...if you can use a cartrige you can use a safety razor...they are basically the same but much nicer for your face...
