    Default Thank You SRP

I would like to offer a thank you to all the contributers involved with this forum. I began researching straight shaving a few weeks ago, and relatively quickly found this site. All the information here is a valuable asset to individuals who are new. I read all I could here, and pieced together a starter den for myself (strop, soap, brush, etcetera and finally razor!) My razor arrived yesterday, I bit the bullet today and had my first straight shave. I'm on a learning curve for sure, however I will not be going back to the old way. I had a great shave! A few nicks here and there, a little uneven in spots. I am too pleased to care. The fact that I was able to do it was enough. After my first experience I know I have a huge amount of learning still to come. Preparation, technique, stretching, angle, grip, stropping. However, one can only read so much. After a while it comes down to trial and error. Strike that, trial and degrees of success! With that said there is so much to read and watch on this site. Most all of my immediate questions were answered in one place or another. I also think the value of community cannot be overstated. The opportunity to connect with seasoned veterans makes this kind of transition smooth.

I am greatly indebted to all the individuals who offer the free advice and information about this excellent adventure that is straight shaving. Without SRP I would not be where I am today. I look forward to learning and improving from this site, and maybe someday making some contributions of my own.

    Thank You SRP!

    Hey Dubs,

Good to see your having fun shaving!

I've been shaving with a straight since November and the experience is still improving and getting pretty consistent... great shaves every time if I choose to.. sometimes not so great but alway better than the cartridge and canned goo..

Welcome aboard Dubs. As you have already discovered it's not a race, rather a learning process. You've already tackled most of the big hurdles. Remain patient, the coveted BBS is not far away.
