    Default Good Blade?

Found this on eBay and was wondering if I could get opinions if this is a good starter razor.

    Thanks for your time, Tony.

Yup, westers are good shavers... this one looks like it's in good shape too. I just sold a wester De-fi... gave me great shaves everytime.

I'm no expert on razors, but one of my two is a used, ebay-purchased Wester Bros Fraternity spike point (5/8). I find it easy to hone, it gives me better "feedback" on the leather strop than does my bought-new Dovo, and it's a consistently smooth shaver also. It has a lot of small pitting, but no active rust and no pitting near the edge. I've been very happy with it.

As a newbie, the biggest stumbling block you will run across on Ebay is how realistic and honest is the seller’s definition of shave ready. This fellow answers the questions you should be asking right up front. I’d have to call that a good thing. His feedback looks good though the numbers are not high. The pictures are decent, a feat in itself. I’d give it a go.

It looks like a great razor. I wouldn't necessarily trust the shave-readiness of the razor, but it certainly seems to be in good condition, both the blade and scales.

I don't have any experience with a Wester razor, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. Plus it's a razor made it Solingen, so you KNOW it's gotta be good.

Be careful, his last one went for over $70 or close to it. $68 w/ 3 hours last I checked. Same razor.

I like Wester, they made good blades.
