    Default BAD shave...

Well today was one of those days.....

Yesterday I figured my Dorko needed to go to the hones.. so I took out the puma to play.. same deal... I stropped it like my life depended on it.. no mistakes.. no lifting the spine or touching the ends of the strop.. I lathered my face before I went stropping. after a nice shower. so the prep was ok I guess.

So I started shaving and the razor did cut some hairs but seemed to skip a lot of them as well.. so I decided it needed a touchup as wel.. this is probably the result of a razor I'm very pleased with that I honed myself and just scares the whiskers away.. these two razors didnt... So I took out the shavette and did a horrible job.. so now my face is bloody (no serious nics just weepers) and Irritated.. and I'm bloody irritated myself as wel..

It's a real bugger when man forgets how unforgivable can shavette be...
    Just hate it...
But, the thought on it just makes me to have all razors in my rotation shave ready...

Well it wasnt the shavette that was the problem.... the day before yesterday I finished off with the shavette and had a wonderfull shave.. Guess I should do a better job honing my razors or replacing the blades in my Shavette

    Been there, done that...
But, regardless of all the bad days, do you experience that shaves are getting only better and better?
    I sure do...

I was so irritated because the previous shave was about the best shave I had so far..

The shaves are getting better and better.. the only downside is that you do raize your standards pretty quickly.. Three months ago I would have called this shave pretty good..

I totally agree with you... Until I started straight razor shaving, I thought that Mach III gives a smooth shave and never actually cared about how well I'm shaved...
Now I consider every shave that isn't BBS a bad shave...
    Talking about standard raising...

    Default You lathered pre-stropping?

You lathered pre-stropping? How long did it take you to strop? If the soap has dried out a bit, shaving through it is a nightmare...

No I just relathered after stropping as wel so my routine was something like this
    -hot shower
    -lathered
    -stropped
    -rinsed my face
    - relathered
    -shaved WTG
    - rinsed..
    -relathered shaved WTG/ATG...
    -rinsed with warm water..
    -cleaned up the mess.
    -rinsed with cold water..
    -aftershave balm

That sounds like a pretty solid shaving routine. Mine's pretty much the same except that if I've gotten pretty fast at stropping so I don't always find the need to re-lather after stropping.

I wonder if the mods would be interested in opening a new forum for the shavette/feather users to discuss these razors separately?
