    Default Car-flick?

    Hi all, Monday again

I have struggled shaving on my neck for years due to a car-flick. Anyone who has one knows how uncomfortable it is to shave. I figgured why not give a SR ago. Untill my new wet stone comes i'm saving the razor, but am wondering if anyone has advice with using a straight with this problem

    Thanks

    welcome to srp

don't hone the razor yourself - have somebody else with experience do it for you.

I think he means a cowlick. If so, I think you'll find that most if not everyone has different patterns of growth all over their face, which is why regardless of the system you use you'll make multiple passes from different directions for the closest shave.

    Yea sorry.

The hair grows in a spiral, so which ever way you go your allways going against the grain. It's uncomfortable with normal razors and freakin kills with an electric razor.

I had a similar difficulty, since the hair on my neck grows in every which direction.

However, I've found that with some clever skin stretching, a very light touch, and angled (diagonal-direction) strokes, I can more or less consistently get all those hairs with little to no irritation.

    Good luck! Hope that helps!

You will just have to experiment with stretching the skin in different directions and blade angles to see what gives you the closest and most comfortable shave. No two faces are the same so you just have to see what works best for you.

i have one on both sides of my neck pretty much under my ear lobe. i just reduce the angle and keep it light, and obviously try to stretch the skin. i used to get irritation and ingrown hairs there but the angle thing seems to have worked for me.

PS any idea why it's called a car flick? or a cow lick for that matter

Cheers I'll give it a go. Not to sure why it's named the way it is. I'll look it up though
