    Default First Razor

    Hey all,

Well I did some research and after reading a ton of information both on this site and on others, I decided to take the plunge into straight razor shaving. I've been shaving with a DE straight razor for a few months now, and have gotten along fairly well. I've always thought shaving with a SR was really awesome so I figured why not? I purchased a vintage razor from eBay that claims it is shave ready. I am planning on e-mailing the seller, but he seems to be a SR user as well and claims to have honed it already. Anyone have any ideas at all on this razor? I'm posting the link below.

SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER 5/8 Straight Razor shave ready! - eBay (item 150330558338 end time Mar-07-09 12:52:57 PST)

I agree. Let us know how it goes for you.

I've never purchased a razor from this seller, but he shaves with them, so I'd assume it's pretty good.

As far as the description of the razor, I wouldn't call the hone wear minimum, it's moderate and heavier at the tip, but you had excellent pictures to judge the condition yourself, so you're happy with it. For that price I think you would've done a lot better in the Classifieds, but that's my opinion.

    Thanks alot everyone,
I appreciate the advice gugi on looking in the classified on here. I think I will do that for my next razor if it turns out I like it. I did do some research but I couldn't tell hone wear from a picture just yet, so maybe next time will be a bit more informed. Thanks again though.

Okay gentlemen tonight was the first shave. Not too bad at all actually. Only two small nicks, but hey thats what nick relief is for right? All in all I think this was a great first experience for me. I did just purchase a belgian coticule to keep my razor sharp. Hopefully that will work out for me. Thanks everyone for all the help and advice.
