Default How to sand and finish a strop?

Of course learning to strop, I took a few good nicks out of my strop and was wondering how to refinish it. I know I need to sand, but to what grit and what do I do after sanding? Thanks a lot!

If you are planning to sand the entire strop what grit will depend on what sort of draw you want. As a general rule the coarser the grit the rougher the surface and the more the draw. I'm partial to 400 grit but you will just have to experiment to see what feels best for you.

As for what to do next...you should clean it and condition it.

I'm partial to Lexol products and use their cleaner first and follow up with the conditioner.
