Thread: New Purchases

These are my first purchases, finally came in the mail today.

Razor: Dovo 5/8 Black Star with Pakkawood handle
Strop: Jemico DOVO German Razor Strop 23" Long Red Russian Leather with Handle
Wood soap bowl and boar brush (upgrading to badger soon)

Now i just need to find someone close to Oklahoma to hone my razor.

good luck with the new purchases. your buying has just begun. you will find yourself wanting more and more and not being able to stop yourself. its like a drug. Im no recognized pro but i think i do a good job honing my razors. they all shave great. if you want and you dont feel like spending the money i will do it for free. I just like doing it and like seeing the difference between different razors. plus its good experience. im in NJ. If you dont mind spending 15 to 20 bucks there are some realy nice guys here that will do a killer job on it.

Even if they are not in Oklahoma, you can find honemeisters in he classified section under member services. I have shipped my razors to be honed by a honemeister a few states away from me. Before you shave, I suggest that you take a look at the wiki for advice on how to prep your beard and maintain your razor, this can make the world of a difference. ;-). This is the beginning of a long journey that should provide lots of pleasure and excitement for you. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
