Thread: Barber's Notch

I often see a notch that looks filed into the end of razors. I often see they are called barber's notches. I have searched all over SRP for why they exist or any history of them but couldn't find it can anyone tell me what they know about them.

I'm new also, but I had found this Section 5 - 4, Type of Tip/Point... - Badger & Blade which indicates that the notch is taken out for maneuverability in tight areas such as around the nostris and ears. I have no idea how true it is.

We have covered this topic many times here. I had a conversation with an old barber last year and he advised that the main reason for the notch was that it made it easier to open up the razor for use.

Well thank you everyone, i'm sorry for replicating a thread, i did try to search for it a couple of times but couldn't get a thread about it what they were for. Once again Thank You

+1 on lynns post if it was made to help around the nostrils it would have two notches on the spine
