I thought this was going to be about stropping durring the shave. I don't mean to get off topic but does anyone do this? sometimes my razor runs out of steam so I use two sometimes cause I don't know if it's OK to strop durring the shave. I thought i heard some where that was a no no. I also strop when I'm bored too. Why not!

It's been said 15 times already but yes, you're definately gripping too tight or pushing/pulling too hard. Once I MADE myself learn to properly strop by rolling on the spine my stropping sped up AND become less tiring...although it was never as bad as you described. Holding the razor so that I could roll on the spine made me change my grip so that I couldn't 'white-knuckle" it.

What hasn't been mentioned is that you may try putting the strop BELOW waist height. I'm a fairly tall guy (6'2") and I actually prefer to tie mine to the "fake drawer" handle underneath the sink. Which equates to the strop being between my belly-button and mid-thigh. It also gives you a better picture of how much pressure you using and how much the strop is bending since it's closer to your sight-line.
