Default 8th shave (just my neck)

yup ive decided to grow my beard out a little. for at least a week or two. but i just shaved the most challenging part...my neck. and im happy to report it went very well. i took the advice of a few different members and switched up my angle and lightened up on the pressure. the hairs cut beautifly and i was able to do a with the grain then a side to grain but not an against the grain. i tried but the way my hair grows ( on my neck its almost completly sideways) its just a challenge to me, so i did a side to grain going the other way.( first time ive ever done 3 passes) it looks nice theres virtually no razor burn or blood. so im happy. thanks for the advice.

ya i had an urge to just shave my whole face...but i stayed strong

My neck hair grows sideways too, it's real tricky. Impossible to go 100% WTG or 100% ATG for me. Simple N-S or S-N passes are easy but don't get close enough. I'm doing diagonal strokes but even that leaves some stubble behind (if I look for it hard enough by rubbing my finger against the grain.) I'm sure I'll get there eventually though.

    Good job!

The neck can be a tricky part....I used to have a lot of trouble with it, as I was getting a lot of irritation. The biggest epiphany for me was to use less pressure. And if that light pressure wasn't cutting the hairs well, then the razor isn't sharp enough! But it sounds like it went well for you.

I have the exact same issue as you Rajagra. My neck hair grows sideways, so I do a N-S, then a S-N, then my last pass I keep the blade on an angle as I do a last pass, instead of being perpendicular to my neck/throat. The best results I've had on the neck is an ATG scything, Gillette slide-type motion, which is both up and sideways at the same time. I got a BBS shave, and a nice horizontal cut, on my neck. Ouch! I haven't gotten up the courage to try it again, but it worked pretty well on the part I didn't cut.
