    Default Newbie saying hello.

    Hello all,

I just wanted to Howdy to everyone. I've been interested in straight razors for some time, but have found that few men have much knowledge on the subject (around here anyways...). I've read the wiki and several post. I couldn't stand it any longer, I've ordered a Dovo from straight razor designs, and strop, soap and brush from another source... and am anxiously awaiting their arrival. I'll post results after my first trial run. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to publish great information to benifit the newbies....

Welcome, it seems like you got a good start. Feel free to ask questions if you have the need once you get your goodies.

    A hearty welcome to SRP!!

When things arrive, I know it will be very tempting to grab everything, head for the bathroom, and start to flash that beautiful razor around your face. The important thing now is to take your time and be patient. If you haven't already done so, it might be a good idea to grab a copy of Lynn's CD. It's worth its weight in gold! I still use it, even after 5 months of straight razor shaving. Its good reference material.

In it he recommends starting with just the area between the sideburn and jawline. Get a feel for how it feels in you hand as you shave, and for the feel of the blade against your skin. Work on your angles. I know how tempting it is to just continue with everything. I was lucky enough to keep that temptation at bay. In no time at all you will be shaving everything, and achieving that BBS!!
