Arrow Gettin sticky on ze blade

I have this DOVO Straight Razor with Reddish Brown Pakkawood Handles 5/8 inch - Knifecenter.com blade and i use this strop with it Jemico DOVO German Razor Strop 23" Long Red Russian Leather with Handle - Knifecenter.com and i treated it with the yellow conditioner Jemico DOVO German Razor Strop Leather Conditioner In Small Tube - Knifecenter.com from what i know i diden't use that much at all and i rubbed it into the strop well covering the edged and middle uniformally. When i run the blade over it im keeping it taught and dragging the blade at a 30 degree angle but i seem to be picking up this stuff from the strop and onto my razor. It is very sticky but does come off with one to two pulls from a cotton cloth from the back of the blade to the front.

This is the first time i have ever used a strop and straight razor do you guys have any idea on what it could be

First, you should have the blade flat against the strop, otherwise you'll probably roll the edge. Secondly, the accumulated goo on you blade sounds weird, do you strop with the edge trailing and the spine leading? If not, do so! When wiping of the blade, make sure that you fold the cloth over the spine or that you drag the side along the cloth, otherwise you might damage the edge!

    Hi and welcome!

It sounds like you have put to much strop paste on your strop, and the excess are rubbing of on your razor, here's a link to Razor stropping in the Wiki. The Wiki has a lot of good information on both shaving and maintenance your razor and equipment.

    Hi there,
How long ago did you condition the strop? It may not have had time to be absorbed yet.
If you've stropped at 30 degrees the blade is going to take some work to get back to shave ready. That kind of angle may be removing the surface of the strop too. The Jemico strops are quite good, & i've conditioned mine no problems. They have a huge amount of draw till they settle down again though. How much of the tube did you put on it?
Read the link bjorn has attached before you do anything more with it. There's a lot to learn, even just sticking to the basics & though you're obviously enthusiastic, jumping straight in will damage your expensive new equipment.
    Good luck with it!
