    Default First shave and GREAT!

well i finally got my razor and strop. I did my first shave with my new razor and loved it! Only thing is that I was scared to go ATG on my neck, because I would have to go sideways and I just didnt feel comfortable enough yet...maybe next time. I have included a picture of my razor and strop.

    Great job!

    Still have both your ears?

I'll bet your first shave wasn't as hard as you thought it'd be. Sounds like you're off to a great start! You can leave ATG for when you feel comfortable with the blade and your technique. You should still be able to get a good shave with just WTG and XTG passes. Practice, practice.

    Welcome and happy shaving!

    Default Congrats!

From one Newbie to another WTG! Just like Dave said, take your time. When you get comfortable with the razor you'll be able to do it. Patience and Practice! Ain't it GREAT!? Ray

good work! i am reading more and more post by noobs (and i am still pretty much a noob ) talking about how great their first shave was. this is great!

i have posted it other threads too but here is what i always pay attention to:
    - blade angle (too much makes for irritation and razor burn)
    - pressure (less is typically better as most beginners, me included, are heavy handed)
    - keep the skin taught
    - prep makes a big difference

good luck! it sounds like you have started out well which is the hardest part.

    Great news!
Don't rush though. If you attempt too much to begin with & a problem arrises it's far harder to track the source down. If you go step by step & find that it's not feeling quite right then you can stop/start doing something & it can make all the difference to the comfort or quality of the shave. I'm still learning too by the way, but this is my opinion.
    Enjoy it!
