Wives are more dangerous than razors. You obviously found out how dangerous the two are together.

I've had a very similar scrape. Get yourself some vitamin E to put on there after it closes.

You guys seem to use too much pressure. Going slow won't save your skin, but using gentle pressure will ensure a gentle no-irritation shave.

I would be careful about going too slow, one of my only deep cuts came from moving too slowly and a few hairs pulled and I ended up pulling the blade the wrong way. I dont have a scar but it bled for a solid 20 mins and the wife actually smacked me for it. Just a warning make sure you carry momentum and stay pulling the right way.

I've found that straight razor cuts heal remarkably well if simply left alone for a couple of days. The cut is so smooth that the bonding is very quick with minimal scarring.

I actually cut myself for the first time yesterday. Wasn't even shaving but showed the blades to a friend. We joked a bit about if I had an ambulance on standby every time I shaved and so on. Didn't think about the razor and got a 1/2 inch cut on one of my hands. It was so clean that it seemed to just close up again after 5 minutes of intense bleeding. Secretly I'm wishing I'm Wolverine with super healing powers...

Quality over quantity, this is what is all about. I am not sure about your reasons for using a straight but for me, pleasure is important. The longer it takes the better... ;-)

I don't usually cut myself unless i am going across my cheeks or chin. Those strokes can cause the blade to slide up or down if you arent careful, luckily it leaves only a hairline cut. Once i cut the ear going ATG but that wasn't too bad either...i guess i am lucky! I still haven't picked up a styptic pen...i always forget when i am out at the store.

"I still haven't picked up a styptic pen." Perhaps you should if you get any form of razor burn, not just for cuts. It works really well.
