    Question Help for Xmas present

My husband has been talking about getting a straight razor for about 5 years, but this year he has been really pushing for one. I am going to get him a pre-honed razor, but I'd like some opinions on the matter.

I really like the Dovo Ebony "Silver Steel", 5/8" Carbon Steel Straight Razor. But, I would prefer to get it in a set if possible. He doesn't need or want anything that is super fancy for the first razor. any suggestions on the badger brush, strop, soap?

I'm not sure if your husband is already accustomed to using a straight razor. If not I think your best bet is to look through the classifieds here. There is some really fine equipment to choose from at far below what you might pay buying brand new. I suggest this method because if it doesn't work out you are not out a fortune. Happy shaving.

Naralia, one more very investment for him. If you can swing it, get a copy of Lynn's CD (in the classifieds or at Straight Razor Designs). It's over 3 hours of great information on straight razors (care of, honing, stropping, face prep, and yes, actually shaving). It was so helpful to me...
