Default Tools for honing and sharpening

i have done some work carving and stuff like that and to sharpen those tools i use a wet stone. Would a wet stone also work for sharpening a straight razor?

It could. But it all depend on what type of whetstone you have there are hundres of different kinds.

you need to read the Wiki articles, you can get there from the menu bar at the top of the page.

whetstones for tools and knives usually aren't nearly as fine as those for a razor. A fine stone for my pocketknives is maybe 2000 grit, but a razor will need at least 8000grit, if not more.
