Thread: To Fromm or not to Fromm

Yes Red the older Fromm razors are good shavers....
I have only honed one of the newer Fromm's so far, It was a little harder to hone than some razors, but it did take an edge, and according to the owner, is holding it quite well.... However at that price point, there are plenty of high quality razors to be had in the classifieds and from our "Kit" vendors.....

Man, I'm glad that this site exists. I already got burned on the venus, now I was thinking bout the fromm. I think I'll pass, and wait for something I can afford on the classified. Thanks.

You could always have a punt at something like this Torrey from one of the members on here.

I don't know the seller personally but from what I gather and from messages I've had he's a good egg and his razors will certainly be shave ready.

From my experiences and the info I found here, going cheap just sin't an option. Good razors often cost good money, but you only need to buy it once. If oyu are lucky, flea markets can have decent blades for under $20.00 I picked up my first useable razor the other day for $12. I own two others and a dang Kreagar (which I am using as a utility knife). They would be useable if I sent them to a professional honer. There are several honers as well in the classifieds. Best bet: the people here. Everyone is interested in a good shave, so they can steer you in the right direction.

The Venus is in the same catagory as the Fromm, they can be made to shave, not my first or even second choice as a razor, and again at that price point why bother....
