    Default Renaissance and Bismarck

As I was searching the web fantasizing about buying a new straight razor (instead of studying for my exam next thursday) I encountered two terms for different razors; Renaissance-style and Bismarck. Now what does this mean what is the difference between them?

    Just got curious..

I have no idea, but these are models by Dovo. The Renaissance is stainless steel, the Bismarck is carbon, both are supposed to be good razors.

Bot hare very good shavers, the renaissance takes a little more effort to get sharp the first time but generally holds it edge longer than the Bismark. of course the Bismark is prettier but as it is a carbon steel like Gugi mentions it needs slightly more care.

It is a matter of taste... i have had 2 of each... in fact i still have the Bismark's one is a modern Dovo version and the other is a vintage one, both very good shavers.
    Be just and fear not.

'Bismarck' is a make of (vintage) razor but also a blade style (well it is to me anyway) - shoulderless and streamlined, just like the Dovo Bismarck models. The Rene is a good razor too, with a very distinct style. Either are a good choice though the Rene does, as has been said, take a little more upkeep.

I own 2 Dovo Bismarcks, both are very good shavers. Highly recommended.
