    Default new DIY paddle strop!

Here's some pics of the DIY paddle strop. Put an old belt (sanded down smooth) around the sides for giggles and maybe stropping. The chromium (on balsa and on one belt side) is in a thinner layer than it appears.

Got a little sloppy by the handle, but my intention for this was just practice -- the next one (the other half of the the spindle) will be stained and a little fancier.

I stropped up the Double Arrow and the Bengall. The Bengall still needs some work, probably have to go back to establish the bevel better -- but the DA stropped up to HHT sharpness. Fun!

One question for anyone with a balsa strop -- does it 'dent' easily?

Thanks. The paddle, although by no means perfect, is a testament to the helpful folks on SRP -- I read all the posts I could, and am indebted to the fine folks who regularly contribute their knowledge, imagination, and time to this board.

This paddle was just the practice one... the next one gets stain and a finer finish job, but since it works fine for the time being, it has to wait until I get a bunch of razors polished up, and maybe even try my hand at some scales -- again, with the help of the posts of folks from this board!
