    Default Leftover Soap question....

I was reading a post by a fellow who said he was sad to see all the extra going down the drain when he rinses out his mug. Does it go bad? I am thinking why not leave all the extra in your mug. Perhaps get a mug with a lid and the next shave will just need a touch of water and none of this cream would get wasted. Do I have a million dollar idea on my hands here or am I just saying what everyone already knows. Or am I just plain wrong?
    Thanks

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think that idea goes along with people who reuse old coffee grounds and old tea bags and old cooking oil and, well you get the idea. Yea you'll save some money but personally I don't think its worth it however, people do it so as they say different strokes for different folks.

Seriously though if it works for you and makes you happy, have at it.

With soap lasting as long as it does, I am not sure many folks will get in line for this idea. However, if it makes you feel good, then do it.

Truly you have a scottish tight-fisted financial sense sir. I applaud you! I am myself of the same opinion, though not in this particular respect. The other day I refused to use an ATM because it wanted to charge me £1.53 for the pleasure. Instead I walked over town to find the best deal- one that only charged me £1.50 to get my own money. Some people call it cheap skatedness but you and I call it good economic sense. Again sir, you have my approval.

Well, I'm going to go against the grain and say go for it. It's soap for gosh sakes. It doesn't go bad and it's not any more unsanitary than using the same bar of soap in the shower for more than one day. I never dump out my soap. I use one bowl to hold the soap and another to build the lather. Any residue left in my brush after shaving is scraped on the rim of the lather bowl before I wash out the brush. The remaining lather in the lather bowl is just left for the next time. If there is any significant accumulation in the lather bowl, I don't bother getting any soap from the soap bowl. I just build my lather from the residue in the lather bowl.

Some think that's disgusting. If you're one of them, then don't do it. On the other hand, some people in this forum report that their soap lasts for about a month while I have never had one last less than 5 years without ever shortchanging myself on lather. Take your pick which way you want to go.

Soap is soap. It doesn't go bad. I'm not sure if reusing it affects that lather at all and would recommend doing a few tests first to make sure your getting the best experience out of it. If after testing it you don't have a problem with reusing the soap, then I'd say go for it.

I do it and never thought twice about it . I have a puck in a mug, create my lather in the mug and rinse my brush out when I'm through. When I fill the mug up with hot water to soak my brush for the next shave, I pour the water out to make my lather so I guess most of the lather that didn't settle back to the bottom is poured out.
