Thumbs up The new guy meets Colleen.

Good day fellas. I am about to make a purchase and fulfill my goal of taking up straights by the end of the summer. For the last year I have been using various DE razors and attained much knowledge form the other shaving sites. I have too many razors, soaps, creams, and brushes to even get into right now, but no straights.................yet!!

I did have an interesting experience recently though. After researching every artisan soapmaker I could find, I decided on the offerings of Joanna at TSD, and Colleen at TGQ. So, last week the wife and I took our newly arrived daughter to see her great-great grandparents in............. Beckley, WV!!

Let me tell you fellas something that ya'll probably know already, Colleen is awesome!! My wife, our baby Jaelyn, and I met Colleen at the Tamarack and spent the afternoon with her there. We had a great time talking about everything from her journey as an artist, our families, and of course her wonderful products. Colleen brought her full line of soaps, creams, and even brushes for my wife and I to check out.

It was a tough decision, but I settled on the soaps below. Colleen, being the awesome person she is, even brought a few 1oz pucks of unscented soap, a couple sample creams, and she even brought the bath soaps for my wife. All for free, because she is cool like that!!

We have already made plans for lunch the next trip we take to Beckley. I reckon I will have to make these soaps last till then!!

Yeah, the TGQ soaps and creams are great! I love the Blackberry & Sage bath soap! And the Highlander shaving cream! And, of needless to say, Cavendish Black! Oh, did I mention the Oak and Moss?

Sounds like a worth while trip. And the "score" looks just great.

I am still a noob, and my repertoire of soaps i have used is very small, but i am in love with Colleen's soaps. I currently am using the Highland soap and cream for my lather, and the blackberry sage soap for the shower.

I plan on making my next order rather soon, and am trying to turn some friends onto these lovely soaps as well.

    Default First straights!!

Okay, I won these razors on the bay last night. From the research I have done, they are good razors. Do you fellas, in your infinite wisdom, have any input, advice, ect.. I have understood that the Griffon is a pain to hone, but takes a very nice edge. What do you fellas think?

I also got a J. Allen & Sons NON-XXL, and a Howard #1 square strop (pictured below too). These all need a little TLC, but should be nice to start SR shaving with.

    Congratulations!

I have and quite enjoy her bay rum and orange shave cream. I had a difficult time deciding which scent to buy, to be honest, and relied on the highly developed "eenie-meenie-miney-mo" method.
