Default first shave and razor burn

i got my first straight today thanks to SRP and had a first shave. It went well, no cuts, though all the maneuvering of the razor will take time to get used to. but im happy so far. The only thing i can complain about right now is a bit of razor burn. Does anyone have any good suggestions for avoiding that? i used a 'razor defense' face scrub before and then nivea's 'extra soothing' after shave, they didnt seem to do the trick. I've read the trummer(?, starts with a T) skin food is pretty good, any one find that stuff helpful?

    thanks

If its your first shave with a straight, it may take a few shaves to get your face used to the razor, it may also be a technique problem, angle, applying pressure, etc.

if its your first shave and all you got was razor burn your a very lucky dude. Give your face a rest for a day or two and try again. You'll find after a few shaves the burn will be gone as long as you don't apply pressure to the razor as you shave.

Trumper's skin food is definetely great stuff. I find it extremely helpful after my shaving. I even use it on days I don't shave after washing my face.
