Thread: Meet the super strong, invincible CHIN HAIR!

I actually have much of the same problem as the OP. Right underneath my chin, the hair grows almost perfectly along the skin in N/S direction. WTG passes largely slide on top of the hairs, and XTG passes are not much better. The only really effective way of achieving a complete whisker removal for me under my chin is the ATG pass.

I have the same problem, but I'm getting better at handling it. I sharpened the razor a little more by stropping with some Chromium Oxide powder. But I think the main thing was technique. Today was a bit of a breakthrough, I think. I realized that I'd been using a too conservative angle. It's probably better for the skin, but it doesn't chop the whiskers as close to the base. I'd been using about a 20 degree angle. Today it was a little over 30. It still took a few passes in slightly different directions, but for the first time my chin didn't look unfinished when I was all done.

Of course, the tricky thing is keeping the right angle while adjusting to the contours of the chin/jaw.

I bet you'll have the chin pretty much mastered in a month.

The chin straight razor shave is apparently harder to learn for many people. I have noticed in old photos, when a straight was the only way to shave, that many men have mostly shaved faces, but with chin whiskers and mustaches. It must have partly been the fashion, but I also wonder if it was more comfortable to simply skip shaving those areas.
