Thread: Progress

I have put a few shaves behind me now and I think I am picking it up. I successfully get through a with the grain and an across the grain with maybe one nick here and there on a consistent basis now. I toy with against the grain in the easy spots (cheeks and the flatter portions of my neck). I am getting pretty close to BBS on my cheeks. My problem areas seem to be the neck and mustache area, but for where I am I think I am doing pretty well (it makes it a bit easier that I keep sideburns down to my jawline and a tuft of beard on the chin). I believe my stropping and shaving are coming along fine, but I still experiment with lather a few times every shave. I have hit the sweet spot with lather twice so I am sure I will pick it up.

Also I just got two brand new stamped Wapis in the mail today, but am a tad strapped for cash to get anything honed in the near future.

Sounds like you're coming along! My personal opinion...stick with WTG and XTG passes for a while. Get those down, and you should be able to get very close to BBS without having to worry about ATG. I less pass (and opportunity for burn) to worry about.
