Default Quick Question about Strop Pastes

Do they go on a leather strop, or a canvas strop?

Abrasive strop pastes usually go on the leather however some have used them on the canvas and maybe some of those guys will chime in. Also there are pastes designed for the leather and canvas that are not abrasive.

What kind of paste are you looking at getting?

Or, what do you want the paste to do?

Have a look at JoshEarl's strop pasting tutorial.

I use a flat bed hone for my pastes and HandAmerican sprays on a hanging felt strop (also from HandAmerican).

I'd stick to leather too for any serious abrasive (.25 or greater). I think many of the applications for linen are designed more to enhance the warming property of the linen against the edge rather than to actually cut steel.
