    Default First Shave-Glad I switched!

I just had my first shave with a straight razor and it was the best shave I ever had.
I used a Dovo Black Star from ClassicShaving.com, that needed very little honing. I have 2 slabs of balsa wood one with dovo red paste and one with black. I only did 20 strokes on each and 20 on a strop and it was ready to shave with.
I nicked myself twice while trying to use my left hand. (I am right handed) Very minor nicks.
I have been shredding my face with an electric razor most of my life, I have also used 3,4 and 5 bladed disposables and the straight razor does a much better job with no razor burn.
I'll never use anything but a straight from now on.

    Welcome

Congratulations on your first shave. Sounds like it went well.

Keep persisting if you can with the left hand. I mean, it's not vitally important that you shave with both hands (lots of people just use their dominant hand with no problems), but it can make things a bit less cumbersome down the track, and it's always good to have options .
