    Default First straight shave

Good evening!! My name is Steve and I would like to first thank everyone at SRP for the information, advice and encouragement that is provided to those who elect to go the straight razor route. I attempted my first straight shave this morning which consisted of doing both cheeks and the area below the jawline. I thought it went very well considering that I decided to use my left hand in addition to my right. I also believe that the razor, a Geneva Cutlery 5/8, was so well honed by Chris Ellison that it contributed greatly to a fairly successful first shave. As mentioned many times here one has to be aware of angle, go slow, and, above all, be patient. Patience not always being the easiest virtue to attain!!

    Hey Steve, Welcome to SRP.

You got that right, being patient can be hard, but I think you have to add something else to that list.
    Have fun and enjoy.
I know I am and I'm still a newbie too, just started a couple of weeks ago.

Welcome, Steve! Glad to hear you're having fun!

I've heard that Chris does a great job, and I know you are going to love that razor. I also have a Geneva 5/8, and it has been a wonderful shaver so far.

Also, props to you for using both hands! You will find that it makes the shaving process much easier.

    ~Chris

Good work Steve! Be careful and above all, keep with it.

You'll be having great straight shaves soon!
