    Default New Shaver Update

    Morning All,

Just wanted to give a quick up-date on my progress.
I have a new Dovo Special Tortise, been shaving for 5 days. This morning was the best shave to date!
    Some observations:
My shaving technique/confidence has been building daily.
My stropping has improved dramatically. I usually strop 25X on the linen side, and 50X on the leather side with a Dovo strop prior to each shave.
Last night, I gave the razor 10 passes on my Chinese polishing stone.

I think I'm really going to like straight shaving, and I look forward to my skills improving on a daily basis.

I welcome all comments and suggestions.

    Enjoy the day.

    Gary

Congrats on the progress! You're having fun, now! And I'm jealous of your polishing stone...I want one.

Thank you for your replies and encouragement!
How often would you recommend I use my Chinese 12k for 10 or so passes to refine the edge?

    Thank you.

If you're stropping well, the edge should hold up for a while. I've only used a strop on my Geneva for the past 1-1/2 months, and it's still swiping the whiskers off my face.
