Flea Market Find
Here's how I KNOW I'm addicted....
My wife and I went around to the local flea markets yesterday, mostly just to spend the day together and see what we could find. Of course, my eyes were drawn to every case in hopes of finding a nice razor to add to my humble collection. Finally at the last store of the day, I came across a straight with no identifying marks (for a newb), a VERY tarnished, dull blade w/ a little rust, and very nice black scales. Even though I had NO idea who manufactured it, with little hope of being able to fix it up myself, I spent the $12 and went home feeling completely satisfied with the success of the day.
I went to WalMart and bought some TarnX, read up on Bruno's "Handsanding howto" thread, and started working. It'll be a work in progress for a little while, I'm sure.
I will post some pictures when I'm home this afternoon. Is there any other way to identify a razor besides the usually stamping on the shank? So far, I've gathered: 5/8, round point, fluting on shank, no plug, single stabiliser, black round-tip scales (not sure what their technical term is).
Thanks, guys!
